UP AND DOWN THE DOLOMITES ON A FAMILY SUMMER HOLIDAY

It doesn’t matter how frequently you visit, or how seasoned a walker you are: some places are steeped so deeply in magic they never cease to dazzle. The South Tyrolean Dolomites are one such place. Rugged faces carved in silver stone blushing pink in the sunset, with green carpets rolled out at their feet and mystery-shrouded woods reaching boldly up to their slopes.
It’s hard to imagine a better backdrop than the Dolomites for a family summer holiday.
The view we enjoy here at AKI, from the sunny foothills of Mt. Plose, is simply enchanting. Step out of our door and explore the many family-friendly walks and hikes that lead along well-kept paths, with one shared destination: sheer awe.

MT. PLOSE – FUN, GAMES AND NEW SPECIAL FRIENDS

The Plose outdoor area can boast some of the best family walks in the entire Isarco valley, with pram-friendly paths offering exciting play stations and opportunities to explore nature and the wildlife from up close.

These include a few absolute “musts”, such as the WoodyWalk trail with its many attractions, ranging from a giant slide to a wooden pinball game. Passing station after station, you will reach Rossalm, one of the most panoramic Alpine huts in the area, where you can refuel with delectable traditional dishes. We also recommend the Lorggen loop trail, which will take you into the woods in search of the Lorggens, the legendary giants that are said to be the keepers of these woods. The trail can be walked in either direction – choose the anti-clockwise direction for a easy walk that is mainly on level or descending paths.

If you’re looking to end your Plose family walk on a high note, treat your children (and yourself) to a mountaincarts downhill race. These three-wheeled pedal go-karts are suitable for children from 3 years of age and guarantee a fun-packed family experience that you won’t forget in a hurry!

Going beyond the comfortable confines of the Plose outdoor area, the options for family walks and hikes are practically endless. Head to the centre of Bressanone to walk along the Archaeological trail (Archeopfad) or take in the wonderful sights along the Chestnut trail that leads across the Isarco valley.
When the mercury goes up, lake Varna with its easy walk is the perfect destination for a sun tan and a refreshing dip.
