AKI Outdoor
Adding zest to your family holiday
Sunny, diverse, and completely family-friendly – the location for our Family Resort was not a random choice. With its quaint charm, unspoilt nature and breathtaking mountainscape, the Plose outdoor area is a bona fide paradise for active holidaymakers both young and old. Getting there is easy, thanks to a modern cable car.
The AKI Outdoor programme is just as full of possibilities as our surrounding landscape, with activities tailored to different age groups and supervised by professionals. It is designed to introduce the youngest children to the wonders of nature in a playful way, and to engage children and teens with the perfect mix of fun, sports and action. Our ultimate goal is to offer families enriching experiences that stay with them for a lifetime.
AKI OUTDOOR – AS DIVERSE AS NATURE ITSELF
The AKI daycare activities offered to children up to the age of three years take place mostly outdoors, offering the youngest children the opportunity to explore the world in an active, playful way, whether it’s in the playground, garden, petting zoo or the woods around the Resort.
Children aged four and older are offered outings into the woods and meadows as well as to local farms. Activities including animal tracking, forest bathing, nature excursions and visits to farmsteads are designed to awaken their thirst for discovery and expand their perception and knowledge – always with a focus on fun and playful learning.
Naturally, there is something special to cater for the wishes and needs of teenagers, too – and parents wishing to rediscover their adventurous inner child are welcome to join in, of course. The teens’ action programme features entertaining and adventurous activities offered several times a week, ranging from mountain cart rides and downhill biking to indoor climbing and whitewater rafting, and thrilling rides on the Plose Bob. Guests are free to choose their programme according to taste, in consultation with our dedicated outdoor guides.
Would you like to spend a few pleasurable hours experiencing nature with your family, either on foot or by bike? Our outdoor experts will be delighted to guide you through meadows, woodland and picturesque hamlets all the way to the most charming and Instagram-worthy spots in our area. The programme includes, among others, excursions through the Isarco valley’s vineyards and fruit orchards – always marvellous to explore whether it’s under the spring blossoms or autumn’s golden leaves – as well as fantastic panoramic high-altitude tours in summer.
Families who would rather explore the area on their own are spoilt for choice, too. For example, there are two family-friendly footpaths starting just outside the Plose cable car mountain terminal: the WoodyWalk and the Lorggen adventure trails. Both feature a number of attractions along the way, such as the Ploseblitz slide, a forest telephone, water games and giant trees for climbing, exploring, playing and romping around. The Plose cable car valley terminal is just a few minutes from the Resort, and easily reached thanks to our complimentary shuttle service. We also offer quality electric bikes for hire.
WINTERTIME BLISS
As winter will be on its way when the AKI Resort comes alive with its first guests, we thought you might like a little preview of our winter outdoor programme.
Skiing takes pride of place of course, with fun on snow waiting for the youngest guests just outside our door. The practice slope and magic carpet are just the ticket for those wishing to try the ropes for the first time – under the attentive supervision of an experienced ski instructor.
As soon as the children have mastered their turning and braking, there’s a new challenge waiting for them on the sunny Plose slopes: a week of ski classes with our ski instructor, who guarantees not only a safe learning environment, but also the right team spirit for every child to feel at ease and have a great time. The ski week ends with a ski race followed by an awards ceremony.
Additionally, we offer group classes at all levels from Monday to Friday, as well as ski-guiding experiences including a leisurely stopover in a mountain hut for children aged 8 to 14 years.
Guests who prefer to experience the magic of winter at a slower pace won’t be disappointed, either. We organise several hikes a week, where we either walk along cleared, sunny paths or make our way across fluffy white expanses on snowshoes – two excellent ways to enjoy the great outdoors as a family. And if you are looking for family-sized thrills, how about a tobogganing ride? The RudiRun trail on Mt. Plose is the longest in South Tyrol, totalling nine kilometres of unbridled adventure that you and your kids won’t forget in a hurry.
Wrap up warmly and join us here, where winter is pure magic!
